I started using the 20w-50 Mobil 1, Motorcycle oil in the Savage (thinking that more viscosity is better). Since than I changed my mind and switched to Mobile 1, 10w-40 Motorcycle oil and am convinced that it is the proper oil for the Savage.

Suzuki claims that one should use 10w-40 in the Savage(PREFERED) and I feel that the Mobile 1 Motorcycle synthetic oil, is the best 10w-40!! Suzuki claims that one may experience clutch slippage with thicker oil than 10w-40. I was experiencing clutch slippage with the Mobil 1 20w-50 Motorcycle oil. BTW there is a 10w-40 Valvoline Motor cycle oil, but I feel that the Mobile 1, synthetic Motorcycle oil is the best. A Mobile factory reprisentative (on "ask Mobile" toll free number) told me that it was engineered for the gearbox and wet clutch and should be chosen instead of Mobil's Automobile oils!!!
